Niche Website Blog Banner

You probably hear the saying that money is on the list. But believe it or not, the money is also on the niche website.

The reason for that is simple – it’s a lot easier to generate income when you have a website that caters to a specific interest or audience.

Not only that your website will become the go-to resource when it comes to this particular topic or specific group of audience.

But it will make the branding process so much doable too.

Think of it when you have a hodgepodge of a website that covers a random topic.

It’s hard to brand a website that isn’t specific on something as opposed to a website that has a clear distinction from the get-go, right?

That’s the reason why the money is also on a niche website.

You can strike riches when you do a good job catering to a specific topic or audience.

It shouldn’t be a bizarre concept for you

As an author, I hope you don’t have this notion that your book is for everybody.

Sure, branding your book in a way that caters to a specific audience may not land you in the best-selling status.

But it can make marketing your book so much easier when you’re clear about who this book is for.

With enough research, you know the kind of language that you need to use in your book description and ad copies to get this specific audience drawn to your book.

You can do the same to your author website too.

Optimize it with the right keyword that your target audience will use when they search for your topic online and the traffic will come your way over time.

Of course, finding the right keyword isn’t an easy feat. But it’s not hard to do thanks to an app like Ubersuggest.

If you’re not on board with the idea of catering to a specific audience, now it’s time for you to do so.

You’re leaving the money on the table if you don’t take niching down to a specific audience seriously.

The truth about having a niche website

Learn as much as you can about your audience, optimize the website for the search engines with profitable keywords, create the needed content, and monetize the heck of them with display ads and affiliate links.

That seems to be the premise of this type of website where it will generate income for you as long as the website ceases to exist.

And what if you have your own products, a book perhaps?

Those products will sell themselves without you having to do much on your end, save for the initial setup you have to do.

While that seems to be like the pipe dream for many of us, the reality is this kind of website isn’t like what it used to be in this day and age.

Rather than leaving the website as it is, you will need to constantly update the website with new content.

Try leaving it dormant after your initial setup and you’ll notice that the traffic will take a nosedive after some time.

And not just your traffic that will take a nosedive, but the income generated from your website too.

For all you know, the income generated will eventually drop to zero.

So, don’t expect your author website to generate sales for your books when you don’t add any new content to your author website.

Set it and forget it doesn’t work in this day and age.

But these people are still raking the dough!

Yes, there are a handful of websites that are still generating income despite not adding any new content for years.

Well, guess what?

They don’t have to add any new content to their websites when they can rely on paid ads to drive traffic to their websites.

If you already know which content generates the most buck on your website, then it shouldn’t be that hard to turn a profit even with the ad spending.

Of course, the content needs to have an affiliate product that has a high commission. It won’t do you any good if the content doesn’t have a high-commission affiliate product.

Yes, I admit it’s a pretty advanced strategy here.

But if it can help with making more money without having to spend the time to create content, then it’s all worth the trouble.

It doesn’t look like they’re relying on paid ads to me

What about the other websites that are still raking the dough but don’t use ads of any kind to drive traffic to their website?

Are they lying to their teeth when they say that they only rely on organic traffic?

Well, it’s hard to tell considering that it depends on what niche they cater to and the type of audience in that niche.

So their initial setup should suffice to make the website generate income for them.

They can leave the website as it is without the need to add any new content.

While it may seem to work for them, it doesn’t seem to be that way in my case, though.

When I leave The Efficient You dormant for quite some time, I don’t see any surge in traffic, let alone affiliate commission.

The only reason that causes the traffic to the website to increase is that when I’m actively blogging on this website once again.

It leads me to believe that generating income from the website is possible when you have sizeable traffic coming to your website.

And the only way to make the traffic keep coming to your website is to update it with new content.

This is how a website like this can work in this day and age

Like it or not, gone are those days when you can create a website and leave it to its device to generate income for you.

The only way to keep the search engines sending the traffic your way is to keep on adding new content to your website.

Sure, you can use paid ads to drive traffic to your website.

And if you’re selling directly, you can use the same principle to drive traffic to your storefront.

But if paid ads aren’t your thing, then content marketing is the way to go.

There are many ways for you to go about with content marketing. But the goal here is to send signals to the search engines that you have an active and thriving website.

Choose whichever method that works best for you.

With consistent effort, not only the search engines will take notice of you. But the people you want to attract will start to flock to your website too.

If you want your author website to do cool things like building an email list for you and selling books to your readers like clockwork, this is the way to go.
