Get Your Book Selling on Your Website Book Cover

It’s not that hard to guess what Get Your Book Selling on Your Website is all about since the title is as clear as a day.

But what’s there to know about selling direct?

Isn’t selling direct all about picking an e-commerce platform, completing the setup, uploading the books, and now you can start selling directly to your readers?

Do you even need to have a dedicated book for that?

If you’ve been reading my blog for quite some time, then you may find this book to be unnecessary.

There’s no reason for you to pick this book or any books for that matter when it all boils down to the e-commerce platform you use to sell your books.

Well, you’re not wrong about that.

But Get Your Book Selling on Your Website book is more than just picking the right e-commerce platform to sell direct.

There’s more to it than just using the right platform to sell books, which is what this book is all about.

What Get Your Book Selling on Your Website is all about

Here’s the book description that I got from Amazon.

Written for an author, by an author, this is an unofficial definitive guide to increasing your book sales on your website. It covers:

    • The advantages of selling direct through your website
    • The five best offers you can make to your readers (including bundling, exclusivity, and more)
    • Seller accounts, dropshipping, fulfillment, and more
    • The pains involved (setup, tech, taxes, shipping, transactional emails, etc.) and whether they are worth it or not for your business
    • How to get your readers to buy direct from you
    • How to use landing pages (with cross-sells, upsells, and post-purchases)
    • Ways to find new readers for your books
    • How to get customers to become repeat customers
    • What else you should be selling if you are selling direct

What got me to read the book

There’s no denying here that I’ve been talking about selling direct on this blog for as long as I can remember.

So, it makes sense why I would be interested in this book considering it’s my main focus going forward.

As much as I’d like to believe that sales will start to roll in as soon as your store is live, we all know that’s never the case.

It’s not easy to get people to buy our books on the retailers’ websites, let alone in our own store.

So, this book piqued my interest since it covers the missing puzzle that I don’t have the answers to.

Just to let you know that I got this book for free when Monica put this book up for free on the Wide for the Win group on Circle.

That gives me more reason to read this book when the only way for you to get this book is to buy it on her online store and the retailers’ website.

I’m not sure if it’s possible for you to get this book for free if you join the Wide for the Win group on Circle.

But you can give it a try by searching for the book title and the post that has a link to get this book for free should come out in the search results.

What makes Get Your Book Selling on Your Website worth reading

When we think about a book of this nature, we tend to think it must have a lot of technical jargon in it.

Well, here’s the good news for you – the book barely has anything I deem technical jargon at all.

If anything, this book goes deeper into how you can make full use of your online store to increase the customer order value.

Things like offering bundles, upgrades, and cross-sells into your product mix.

Think of it as offering your reader a book bundle where it consists of ebooks and audiobooks.

Or you can offer a physical box set upgrade if they’re buying the digital box set of your book.

The possibilities are endless when it comes to selling direct since you can do so many things with it. And it’s not something that you can do easily on the retailers’ website.

Of course, there’s a dedicated chapter on which e-commerce platform you can use to get started with selling direct.

That’s the only technical stuff you see throughout the book by far.

The rest of the book is more about increasing your customer order value, be it the product offerings or the copywriting techniques you can implement to convert the browsers into sales.

What you should know about the book

When you think about selling direct, you may have the idea that selling direct will only work if you have a sizeable audience and a large backlist.

Well, you’re not wrong about that since it’s easier to generate sales from your online store when you already have a sizeable audience and a large catalog.

That’s where the term novelist dilemma comes in where you don’t have enough products offering to make a sustainable income from your online store.

Does it mean that you should forget about selling direct when you barely have any audience and only have one book under your belt?

Of course, the answer is no.

If anything, I should say it’s best to start selling direct as early as you can.

Another thing to note is that selling direct is a much better option for those who write a book catering to a specific audience or niche.

As you can see here, it’s hard for this sort of book to hit the bestseller list even with the help of advertising.

So, your best bet is to sell direct. Your book will have an easier time getting discovered by your target audience through your online store as opposed to retailers.

That’s another reason to get started with selling direct if you haven’t already.

Who should read the book?

There’s no doubt this book is a must-read if you’d like to get started with selling direct but you don’t know what else you need to do beyond the setup.

If you need help in that department, then this book got you covered.

Just so you know the book does cover marketing as well.

But the marketing aspect that you’ll see in the book is more on the copywriting side rather than doing things like getting people to join your email list and advertising.

Monica has a dedicated book just for those things, in case you’re wondering.

You can take a look at those books if you need help with the marketing side of things.
