It’s interesting to hear whenever we talk about being lucky in life, many of us tend to believe that we’re never lucky in anything.
Whenever the stuff hits the fan, we always say things like luck is never on our side.
Another common perception that many of us love to tell ourselves?
Some people are born lucky, but certainly not me.
Congratulations if you’re one of the few people who never utter such a thing to yourself.
But for the rest of us, we seem to condition ourselves that luck only favors certain people.
If you press them, asking them about these certain people that they’re referring to, they will say they don’t know.
Believe me, I used to have the same belief about luck as well.
While I don’t believe that luck only favors certain people, I do believe that I’m not that lucky all the time.
It was only when I read Chellie Campbell’s book, The Wealthy Spirit that changed my perception of what it means to be lucky in life.
What does it mean to be lucky in life?
When we think about being lucky from the author’s career standpoint, we seem to define being lucky as something pivotal that happens in our lives.
It can be things like having a publishing house come knocking on your door, eager to sign you a book deal.
Or it can be you’re swimming in money, praise, and accolades as a result of your book hitting the bestseller list.
And the luckiest thing that can happen to you as an author?
You’ll get a movie deal, with your favorite A-list Hollywood celebrities starring in the movie adaptation of your work.
What a blessed life you have right there!
When you see all these amazing things that happen to authors you know, it’s easy to believe that it takes a miracle for something similar to happen to you.
But the truth is, those people who have all these things happen to them aren’t any luckier than any of us.
Those things happen to them as a result of them busting their butts off to make those pipedreams a reality.
They’re not born with the stars on their side, showering them with luck throughout their lifetime.
Luck comes in many different shapes, sizes, and forms
For many of us, we tend to define the good, monumental things that happen to us as a measurement of being lucky.
Anything small or insignificant in your life isn’t worth considering at all.
Well, guess what?
Those lucky moments you deem small or insignificant are just as impactful as the monumental ones.
If there’s one thing I will define as being lucky, it will be good things happen to you, big or small.
Sure, it’s great to see something monumental such as people raving about your book, causing your book sales to spike.
But other good, small things that happened to you can also be something that you define as being lucky.
Maybe it’s something like you get yourself an extra chicken and a ton of fries on the side despite only ordering a two-piece chicken with nothing extra.
Or perhaps you managed to snag the item you’ve been eyeing for so long and now you’ll get to buy it at a discount.
No matter how small and insignificant those moments are, you’re already a lucky person even if they’re the things that happen to you on a small scale.
How to bring more luck into your life
Yes, there are ways that you can do to bring more good luck into your life, big and small.
And the best part of all? They’re simple to do and won’t take too much of your time.
The only thing you need to be aware of is that it will take time for you to see the significant impact in your life.
Do these things and you’ll start to see your life gradually changing after some time.
Express gratitude
Be grateful for what you have even if you have nothing much on your name.
It’s easier for the good, bigger things to manifest in your life when you’re grateful for even the smallest thing.
Think of it this way – how do you expect the universe, God, or whatever deity you believe in to give more good stuff to you when you don’t appreciate the smallest things that happen in your life?
It’s because of this reason it’s important to express your gratitude no matter how small it is.
So, how can you express your gratitude then?
Well, you can have a dedicated notebook just for jotting down your daily gratitude.
Or you can use something like LSW Mind Notes to do the gratitude journaling exercise if you prefer something fancy.
As for me, I only use my bullet journal to do my gratitude journaling.
You can have a dedicated section in your bullet journal if you prefer. But I find it’s easier to do gratitude journaling when I lump it together with my daily log.
Instill the belief that you’re a lucky person
No amount of work will help you if you don’t believe you’re a lucky person.
So, how can you instill the belief especially when you’ve been conditioning yourself that you’re not a lucky person all your life?
Well, you can use something like a subliminal to rewire your brain’s thought process.
Or you can do affirmation instead if the idea of lying down while listening to the subliminal track sounds like torture to you.
The good news about affirmation is that you can do it even if you have a skeptical mind.
Do it a couple of times a day for a few days or so and see how it turns out for you.
I usually do affirmations whenever my negative thoughts start invading me or whenever I’m placing an order to buy something if I’m doing money-related affirmations.
Even if I don’t do it every day, I realize that good things do happen to me every time I do affirmations.
But if you can do it every day consistently, all’s the better.
Consider implementing Feng Shui in your life
The flow of good and bad energy can have a significant impact not just on your environment, but on your mind too.
So, the best way to bring more of a good vibe into your life is none other than to implement Feng Shui in your living space.
Yes, Feng Shui can be hard to grasp if you’re new to the concept.
But if it’s something that you’d like to give a shot, then I highly recommend you have a look at the Feng Shui Your Life by Marie Diamond.
I love this book since it doesn’t just cover all aspects of your living space. But it also provides Feng Shui tips for traveling, cooking, and dining.
You can read my thoughts about the book here if you’re interested.
We’re all lucky people
Regardless of what sort of circumstances you have in your life, we’re all lucky people.
Try asking any indie authors who have been around for more than a decade or so and they will tell you it’s easier now than ever to become an indie author.
And it’s not just publishing and distributing books to the wider audience that has become easier.
We also now have so many tools that we can use to aid us in writing a better book.
Even better? We can do all that with only a fraction of the cost needed to publish a professionally-looking book.
While we may not be that lucky in other parts of our lives, we’re indeed lucky if forging our way as an indie author is something that we want to pursue in this day and age.
We have all the things we need to get started no matter who you are and where you are.
If you don’t consider that lucky, then I don’t know what it is.
